I love making desserts and I love making them healthy. I usually do this by keeping the sugar and/or fat content as low as possible without compromising on taste.
This 5-ingredient blueberry cream cheese dessert is low in sugar although I did use full fat cream cheese. I find low fat or fat free dairy products a little acidic, which isn't always ideal in dessert recipes.
That's why I chose to use full fat cream cheese in this recipe. As it's the only ingredient containing fat this blueberry dessert recipe still ranks quite high in the healthy dessert category.
This healthy blueberry cheesecake dessert has a velvety smooth texture and light and fluffy, mousse-like consistency. You will need to use a really good blender in order to get these results. (I used Optimum Air Vacuum Blender).
Blueberry cream cheese dessert ingredients
In addition to the blueberries (use fresh or frozen) and cream cheese these dessert cups are made using a small amount of icing/powdered sugar, almond flour to help the mixture set and the zest of 1 lemon.
Step-by-step recipe instructions
When it comes to easy desserts blender recipes are definitely at the top of my list! What could be simpler than tossing all the ingredients into a blender and blitzing until smooth!
This blueberry cream cheese dessert is almost as simple as that.
1. Briefly cook the blueberries along with the sugar, in a pan over a high heat for a few minutes. This will release more sweetness from the blueberries. After 5 minutes of bubbling up your mixture should look like this:
2. Allow the mixture to cool a little, then blitz together with the 3 remaining ingredients.
3. Spoon equal amounts of the mixture into 4-5 little pots/ramekins, refrigerate for at least 30 minutes and enjoy!
Top tips
- Use either fresh of frozen blueberries.
- For best results I recommend using a high speed blender.
- You can make this dessert ahead and keep it covered and refrigerated (for up to 3 days) until you are ready to serve it. Spoon into your dishes just before serving.

Monika these are so pretty and those cups are so dinky! 🙂 I'm wondering which vegan cheese would work with this and I already have blueberries ready as I made some for pancakes! Thanks so much for linking up and sharing at Fiesta Friday this week! 🙂

So beautiful and easy! This mixture would be great mixed with other desserts, too - dip cookies in it...put it in a pie crust/tart...slather it over brownies....oh wait. this was supposed to be a healthy dessert, huh? 🙂

This is brilliant Monka! I might go with greek yogurt because I like that acidic twang ?
Monika
Thanks DeeDee! I love Greek yogurt too, but it might make this dessert too runny, maybe a combination of yogurt and cheese?
Janice
What a lovely dessert. I think it would work with blackcurrants and blackberries too!
Monika
